MASTER'S DEGREE IN PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANCY

CSUN Nazarian's Master of Professional Accountancy is an innovative graduate program carefully designed to prepare you to succeed on the CPA exam and to effectively launch your career in accountancy.

Whether you immerse yourself in the full-time one year program or choose to balance work and life with the part-time two-year program, you'll have access to the same engaging and practice oriented faculty, prepare for the CPA exam with CPA review materials at no cost to you, fulfill the 150 unit licensure requirement, build your network through our cohort program, and receive individualized career development and support from the EY Center for Careers.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

SKILLS-BASED FOCUS:

The program focuses on developing highly specialized technical skills, as well as communication skills essential for the growth and success of today's accounting professional.

CPA EXAM FOCUSED:

Along with cost-free use of a CPA review course, students in this 30-unit program will be well prepared to sit for the CPA exam with the requisite knowledge and skills in accounting. While the curriculum goes beyond materials covered on the CPA exam, students will be introduced to concepts tested on the CPA exams throughout the program.

CPA CAPSTONE CULMINATING EXPERIENCE:

In close alignment with the CPA exam, the program integrates a required culminating experience course at the end of the program that is designed to fully prepare the students to sit for the CPA exam before or upon graduation.

FULL TIME OR PART TIME OPTIONS:

You may choose to immerse yourself in the full-time one year program or choose to balance work and life with the part-time two year program.

COMPREHENSIVE CAREER ADVANCEMENT PROGRAM (CAP):

Uniquely available to CSUN Nazarian MPAcc students, the EY Center for Careers offers students a vast array of resources to support and enhance their career trajectory in the field of accounting. The EY Center's programs and services aid in your search for accounting internships, part-time jobs and full-time career opportunities. The services include: dedicated recruiting Boot Camp for MPAcc students, individual guidance on career opportunities, on-campus recruiting & workshops, peer career support, on-campus career hub, and networking events throughout the program.

COHORT FORMAT:

Students enter the program and proceed through the curriculum as a group. This format provides students with the advantages of guaranteed enrollment in every class and a predetermined schedule of classes for the entire program. Learning is facilitated by seminar-style instruction and a curriculum carefully designed to ensure that each successive course builds on what has been learned in earlier courses. The cohort format also provides opportunities for maximizing interaction with the faculty and developing valuable networking relationships with fellow students. 

PRACTICE ORIENTED:

The program integrates theory and practice throughout the curriculum and provides multiple, optional outstanding clinical-experience opportunities, including participation in the Bookstein Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, and the CSUN Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic.

ACCREDITATION:

The program is offered through CSUN's David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, which is accredited by the leading business school accrediting agency, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The university is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

MEETS THE 150 UNITS REQUIREMENT FOR LICENSURE:

This fully accredited program meets California's 150-hour requirement for the California CPA-licensure.

With tuition under $20,000 for the entire program including the CPA review course and most books, this graduate degree provides most return on your investment.

CONVENIENT SCHEDULING:

Classes meet twice in the evenings and on Saturdays.
