VITA Clinic Annual Report 2017

I am pleased to report on another transformative year for the CSUN VITA Clinic. As you may recall, last year the clinic experienced an exponential growth, serving more than 3,600 taxpayers -- almost a tenfold increase from the previous year. Powered with almost 350 student volunteers, this year the CSUN VITA Clinic provided free tax preparation services to over 6,000 low-income taxpayers in our community.

Powered with 345 volunteer IRS-certified preparers, the CSUN VITA Clinic had the following impact in 2017:

Low-income taxpayers served, with free federal and state tax return preparation.

Saved in tax preparation fees for Los Angeles residents (assuming a $300 per return fee).

$5.9 million
Brought in tax refunds.

Claimed in Earned Income Tax Credits. Helping people to move out of poverty.

Community service hours provided to the public in twelve locations throughout the San Fernando Valley.
