CSUN Nazarian College Professor Appointed to Lead CSU Real Estate and Land Use Institute Originally Published on CSUN Today

Melanie Stallings Williams, a professor of business law in CSUN’s David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, was appointed the executive director of the California State University Real Estate and Land Use Institute (RELUI) by Chancellor Timothy P. White.

Housed for the first time at CSUN since it was established in 1974, RELUI is a collaborative effort among industry leaders, representatives from the State of California Department of Real Estate and CSU faculty to promote education in the real estate industry, and to support CSU students who are pursuing real estate careers. The institute also administers California’s Real Estate Education Endowment, which funds program improvements and last year distributed almost $50,000 in scholarships to students pursuing a career in the real estate industry.

As executive director, Williams – who teaches business law, negotiation and business ethics at the graduate and undergraduate levels – will administer RELUI’s budget; organize the advisory council’s annual meeting; and serve as the liaison to campus program leaders in the development of grant and scholarship applications. An expert in academic research including antitrust law, intellectual property, ethics, biotechnology, small business programs and pedagogy, Williams has taught in international business programs around the world.

The David Nazarian College of Business and Economics is a leader in real estate education, offering a major and minor in real estate, as well as a certificate program for college graduates seeking to pursue real estate careers.
