When you access LifeMatters@CSUN, you will receive assistance about your concerns and be offered a variety of services, including:

Free telephone and counseling services:

  • 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • Calls and referrals are strictly confidential in accordance with all applicable laws
  • Referrals to external counselors; up to three (3) sessions on a per problem basis, per family member
  • Spanish-speaking representatives
  • Language line services (100+ languages)
  • TDD available for hearing-impaired

 Telephone and face-to-face counseling for:

  • Stress, depression, and personal problems
  • Balancing work and personal needs
  • Family and relationship concerns
  • Alcohol and drug dependency
  • Crisis situations
  • Any other personal or workplace concerns

 Work/life resources and referrals for:

  • Child care providers and needs
  • Elder care resources and programs
  • Health and wellness resources
  • Other work/life balance concerns

 Financial consultation with a certified financial counselor for:

  • Budgeting
  • Credit report review or correction
  • Information on mortgages, loans, and other financial arrangements
  • Debt management and consolidation
  • College or retirement planning

 Legal consultation with an attorney (over the phone) for:

  • Consumer law
  • Traffic citations
  • Family law
