Conference Registration
Register for the conference and RSVP for optional events
Registration is required to attend conference panels. To appear on the printed program, participants will need to register no later than April 30, 2016. Registration rates for ASPAC 2016 are as follows.
- Professional, $100 (if registering no later than April 30) or $125 (if registering on May 1 or later)
- Student & community participant, $35
Optional Events
A number of optional events are planned, including a Friday evening reception, Saturday evening banquet, and Sunday afternoon excursion.
About the Reception
The Friday evening reception in the USU Grand Salon (complimentary for registered conference attendees) is a chance to relax with colleagues after the first day of panels and will feature artistic performances by CSUN taiko group Jishin Taiko and soprano singer Xuanjin Bi. While the reception is complimentary, please indicate on the registration page if you will attend.
About the Banquet
The Saturday banquet ($40) at the Orange Grove Bistro will offer buffet-style sit-down dinner with a variety of food options, including vegetarian. The banquet will feature a keynote talk by Katherine Bowie, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin and incoming Vice President of the Association of Asian Studies (AAS). Professor Bowie will be speaking on "Folktales and the Politics of Humor: The Case of the Vessantara Jataka in Thailand."
About the Excursion
Sunday will feature an excursion to Old Town Pasadena to eat, explore and visit area museums, with round-trip group transportation ($35) departing CSUN after the morning panels. Notable museums within walking distance of Old Town include the Norton Simon Museum ($12) and Pacific Asia Museum ($10). Transportation to the nearby Huntington Library ($25) will also be provided. Transportation to LAX and CSUN will be provided after the excursion, leaving Pasadena no later than 4pm.
