Earth Fair is an event that educates students and the community about global environmental issues. This event will bring awareness of CSUN's sustainable initiatives to everyone.

Some Highlights include:

  • Student art competition that utilizes re-usable products
  • Performances by local musicians
  • Hosting 50 on and off campus vendors that encourage students to take steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
  • Lots of samples and giveaways.

In collaboration with CSUN Dining, Institute for Sustainability, SDFSA Food Waste Committee and Associated Students, CSUN is proud to bring you the first annual Earth Week! 


 

April 23:
Double Your Discount

Kick off Earth Week and use a reusable cup for your beverage at the following CSUN Dining locations on April 23rd and receive a double discount of $0.60 off you purchase.

April 24: 

Farmers Market 

Join us at the AS Farmers Market from 10 - 2 PM at the Matador Square. There will be special speaking performances will address topics on how you can live a more sustainable life. In addition to live speaking, campus organizations will be tabling in Matador Square. 

10- 10:30 AM - "Clothes, you know: How to help create a sustainable life style" 

1:15- 1:45 PM -"Coffee With A Matter: Less plastic, more coffee" 

 


 

Sustainability Center Tours – 10-11 AM & 2-3 PM 

The Associated Students Sustainability Center is a multi-functional space, serving primarily as the central collections location for the campus recyclables. It also serves as the home of AS Recycling, the Institute for Sustainability, and as a focal point for the University community providing educational programs and services related to the environment and sustainability.

 

Sign-up for a tour to learn about the Sustainability Center’s array of sustainable features including enough solar energy to be self-sufficient, operable windows for natural lighting and ventilation, a greywater system, drought-tolerant landscaping, vacuum-composting toilets and more!

 


 

April 25: 

Sustainable Wednesday @ the Sustainability Center 

Sustainability Center Tours – 11AM – 12 PM & 2 – 3 PM

Campus Sustainability Lime Bike Tour 

Where: Bayramian Fountain 

When: 1:30-2:30 PM 

What: Take a Lime Bike Tour of CSUN’s sustainable initiatives. Locations on the tour will include LEED Buildings, landscape renovations and water conservation projects, energy conservation projects and lighting retrofits, solar, campus garden and compost sites, LimeBike and transportation initiatives. 

 

Wasted! Film Screening 

The SDFSA Food Waste Committee is excited to be bring the movie Wasted! for your viewing pleasure on Wednesday, April 25th. Wasted! The Story of Food Waste, features Anthony Bourdain as the Executive Producer and examines food waste through the eyes of world-famous chefs. Food waste, how it effects climate change, and small changes we can all make is discussed in this film Come enjoy this movie with us! Check in at 2:45pm and the movie begins promptly at 3:15. Additionally, we will have create your own Eat First Boxes, and will be first come, first serve.

 


 

April 26: 

Earth Fair 2018

Join us on Bayramian Lawn from 10 AM - 3 PM for Associated Students annual Earth Fair! 

Earth Fair informs CSUN students and the community on how to live with less waste, find alternative ways to be more sustainable, and lead a healthier lifestyle. This year come check out 50 + vendors, live music, free henna tattoos, a digital art competition, tree planting, the Groundwork Coffee Truck, Lime Bike campus tours and up-cycled T-shirt dying. Institute for Sustainability Spring Orange Pick 

CSUN Orange Grove 

9-11 AM 

It's time for our fruitastic spring Orange Pick in collaboration with Food Forward. This will be the culminating event to wrap up Earth Week. We'll harvest oranges in the CSUN Grove and donate them to those in need, including the CSUN Food Pantry!
