Selection Process

The Alumni Association posts all available scholarship opportunities through the CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarships Office who collects, reviews and verifies data using information available at the stated deadline. Student reported eligibility information is confirmed by records available on the university computer system. Information that cannot be confirmed using computer records will not be used in selection. The Alumni Association cannot be responsible for errors on the system and subsequent late changes. Admissions and grade changes made after the deadline are not considered in the application or award process.

After an application has been reviewed as meeting the basic eligibility requirements, it's available to the Alumni Association Scholarship Committee for selection and scoring according to the criteria and requirements specified for each scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee an award.

Due to the large number of applicants, students will not be individually contacted by the Alumni Association during the selection process. Final recipients will be notified by the CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarship Office via their myNorthridge Portal.  However, students may confirm receipt of an application by the alumni selection committee by emailing your name and submission category to alumni@csun.edu anytime after the posted submission deadline.

If selected, students will be notified by the university and funds will be dispersed by the CSUN Financial Aid and Scholarship Office via your myNorthridge portal. The names of the final scholarship recipients will also be posted on the Alumni Association or chapter website.
