Doctoral Dissertation Showcase: Where Research and Practice Meet

The purpose of the Doctoral Dissertation Showcase is to provide research information to the PK-16 professional community as well as broaden doctoral students’ horizons of research and dissertation. The Doctoral Dissertation Showcase will be held every year and jointly sponsored by the CSUN’s Ed.D. Program in Educational Leadership and the CSUN’s Education Alumni Chapter.  

The first annual showcase will be held on October 22, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, in Education Building (ED 1130) at CSUN, which will be operated like an academic conference paper presentation session. Parents and local education practitioners are also invited to participate. The first annual showcase will be Hyflex and broadcast on Zoom, too. 

We invite our CSUN doctoral students and alumni to register and attend this exciting event. 

Four research papers or dissertations will be selected for presentation annually, with representation from community college/higher education cohorts and from PK12 cohorts. The author of the selected research paper or dissertation will receive a reward of $250. The major selection criteria include: (1) The overall conceptualization - Study demonstrates originality and critical thinking. The design and conceptualization of the study evidence a creative, unique approach to the topic. Academic merit of the research is provided. Parts fit together in a coherent whole. (2) The overall contribution to the field - Study has potential to bring greater understanding and improvement to a problem of policy or practice in PreK-12 or higher education.
