University Relations and Advancement Departments

Alumni Association
CSUN alumni have every right to be proud. With more than 40,000 students the demand to attend your alma mater grows stronger each year. The Alumni Association understands the importance of not only keeping alumni informed, but providing you with the ability to reunite and network with one another for personal and professional benefit. Staying in touch with fellow alumni and the university is one of the main benefits of membership in the Alumni Association.

Private gifts provide a margin of excellence that takes the university to new heights. Your support can make a profound difference in the lives of students, faculty and members of the community in addition to strengthening the university’s role as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the San Fernando Valley and beyond.

CSUN Foundation
The California State University, Northridge Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public benefit California corporation that serves as an auxiliary organization to CSUN. The corporation is organized exclusively for scientific, literary and educational purposes within the meaning of a university auxiliary under Section 89901(d) of the California Education Code.

Government and Community Relations
The Office of Government and Community Relations coordinates and facilitates the university’s interactions with local, state and federal governments, as well as its relationship with neighboring communities. Our goal is to promote the CSUN mission to faculty, students and staff through meaningful contact with elected officials and organizations, and regular interaction with the community as a whole. The Government and Community Relations team also tracks legislation that impacts the university and participates in system wide advocacy efforts in both Sacramento and Washington, D.C.

Marketing and Communications
The Office of Marketing and Communications is CSUN’s central communications office. We strive to increase public understanding of and support for the university through a number of efforts, including:

• Strategic Marketing Communications
• Media Relations
• Identity Strengthening
• Publications, Websites and Social Media
• Internal Communications Assistance

Special Events
The Office of Special Events and Donor Programs supervises and directs the planning and coordination of selected special events to advance the overall excellence of the university. The office also serves as a liaison on special events, collaborating with campus partners with regard to protocol, facilities, logistics, and other needs as requested.
