Diana Ray-Goodman, Viola. Diana plays both the violin and the viola. She received her BA in Music from CSU Northridge and worked on her Master’s degree with William Magers at Arizona State University. She has played in several orchestras including the Phoenix & Santa Barbara Orchestras, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra and the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic. Diana is a founding member of the Luminoso Piano Quartet which also performs at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts. In Thousand Oaks, Diana has a studio of violin and viola students ranging in age from 3 years to adults. She is a Member and Evaluator for the Music Teachers’ Association of California. A member of the music faculty at CSUCI, she is also a Registered Teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. -- Citizens Journal

Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) in IEEE are advancing technological innovation and making measurable social impacts, while addressing local community-service needs as they pertain to education and outreach, access and abilities, the environment, and human services. A look at a few EPICS in IEEE solar projects in Africa explores how philanthropy can be leveraged in ways that benefits local communities, and also empowers young people through practical, educational experiences based on applied engineering principles in the field. Successful EPICS in IEEE projects such as these are proving to be a grassroots approach that fosters young students’ interest in engineering studies today and sows the seeds for the engineers that will serve the power industry for the future. -- Renewable Energy World magazine

Three new lieutenants for Ada County Sheriff’s Office
Dilibert joins the ASCO from the Burbank Police Department in Burbank, Calif. where he has worked for 28 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State University Los Angeles and a master’s degree in public administration from California State University Northridge. He also has a certification in Counter Terrorism from the National Counter Terrorism Academy and has achieved Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Supervisory and Management POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certifications in the state of California. Dilibert has managed 911 dispatchers, training, recruitment, backgrounds, and community outreach units. He has supervised the SWAT and CNT units comprising 21 tactical operators and ten negotiators. -- Idaho Business Review

I owe this award to the wonderful foundation in geoscience I received as an undergraduate at Pasadena City College and Cal State Northridge, and as a Ph.D. student at University of Southern California (USC).
