Hall induction will celebrate Kolze's softball success

Kolze was born in Sacramento and grew up in Lodi. He attended Tokay and St. Mary’s high schools, then went to Moorpark and Delta community colleges. He graduated from Cal State Northridge in 1984. Kolze played baseball through high school and college. He began coaching softball as an assistant in 1988 at UNLV and was on the Rebels’ staff when they made it to the College World Series in 1990 and 1991. -- Stockton Record

Meet the tellers who will share stories on 'Going Home' for Coachella Valley Storytellers Project

Leslie Gonzalez was born and raised in the heart of the Coachella Valley, where her love for reading books and journaling developed into a passion for writing and storytelling. She went to school at California State University, Northridge, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in English and minor in illustration. She writes short story fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy and young adult fiction in the hopes of sharing her love and enthusiasm for story-telling to the masses. -- The Desert Sun

Former LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa launches bid for California governor

Villaraigosa’s history working in the labor movement, his experience in the state Legislature and on the Los Angeles City Council give him a “pretty solid record” to stand on, said Tom Hogen-Esch, who teaches politics at Cal State Northridge. As the only known Latino candidate so far, he has the advantage of having a base of Hispanics — as well as other Democrats — who have supported the two-time mayor in the past. -- Los Angeles Daily News
