Bryan Camacho resigns as Alemany girls basketball coach

Camacho has experience in the college ranks, having served as an assistant at CSUN from 2010-11. But he also carved out a niche as one of the San Fernando Valley’s most successful coaches during his tenure. Alemany won or shared five Mission League titles and won the CIF State Division III title in 2013. Camacho also led Bell-Jeff to the CIF State Division V title in 2009. -- Los Angeles Daily News

UL Women's Basketball to Host UNO in WNIT

CSUN, Houston and New Orleans are gearing up for their first time in the Preseason WNIT. Boasting their second selection into the tournament are Drake, Louisiana, Michigan, Milwaukee, Old Dominion, Southeast Missouri and Texas A&M. George Mason, 2013 champions Louisville, Oregon and Saint Francis (PA) are all making their third appearances. Toledo embarks on their fourth journey through the bracket and Liberty is making a tournament-high fifth appearance in the Preseason WNIT. -- KATC

Maybe we should send the Gilas Cadets to the FIBA Asia Cup instead?

Interestingly enough, coach Chot also extended invitations to five players who are not currently playing in the PBA. One of them was Almond Vosotros, who last played for Blackwater but who has had experience training with the cadets. Another was Raymar Jose, who last played for the country in the 2016 SEABA Stankovic Cup in Thailand. Former Ateneo Blue Eagle and UAAP MVP Kiefer Ravena was also called up along with former Batang Gilas and 3×3 standout Kobe Paras, who just committed to Cal State Northridge in the US NCAA. Perhaps the strangest name, however, was that of 6’8 Filipino-German Christian Hermoso Standhardinger, who has never played in any Philippine league or for any Philippine team before. -- Fox Sports Asia

The athletic young man recently moved from Creighton University to California State University, Northridge. But as he needs to sit out for one year before he can suit up for his new squad, Kobe will have more time to play for the Philippine national team. -- The Market Monitor
