CSUN Men’s Basketball Coming to ESPN3

CSUN Men’s Basketball games will be featured multiple times on ESPN3 during the Big West Conference season, the league office announced on Wednesday. CSUN Athletics has unveiled a new Red Rally student section at men’s soccer games for the remainder of the regular season. The Red Rally section is available exclusively for CSUN students and is located at mid-field directly adjacent to the pitch, as close as you can get to the action. New editor named at the Calaveras Enterprise

He is a graduate of Cosumnes River College, where he served as online editor of the campus paper, The Connection. At California State University, Northridge, he was a reporter and podcaster for the student publication The Sundial. JUDITH BACA NAMED RECIPIENT OF AASCU’S 2017 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD

Washington, D.C.—The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) has named Judith Baca, an artistic director and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), the 2017 recipient of AASCU’s Distinguished Alumnus Award. Baca received her B.A. in 1969 and M.A. in 1980 from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), and is known for large-scale public murals and art that involves extensive community organization and participation. -- ASASCU

Pianist Kariné Poghosyan to Perform ‘Transformations’ at Carnegie Hall

Poghosyan’s musical studies began in her native Yerevan, in Armenia, at the School of the Arts No. 1, and continued at Romanos Melikian College and the Komitas State Conservatory. Her teachers in Armenia included Irina Gazarian, Vatche Umr-Shat, and Svetlana Dadyan. After moving to the United States in 1998, she received her BM, summa cum laude, from California State University in Northridge under Françoise Regnat, and her MM and D.M.A. degrees at Manhattan School of Music under Arkady Aronov, completing her D.M.A. in a record-breaking two years with a thesis on Aram Khachaturian’s works for piano. -- The Armenian Weekly
