Obituary: Timothy Ian McElroy
Timothy Ian McElroy, born Timothy Wayne Seale November 21, 1958, passed away from acute sepsis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and complications from AIDS October 17, 2019. He attended Cal Baptist College and CSU Northridge, earning ministerial credentials and a business degree. A California school’s alumni adviser hits the road to ease 1st-year college students’ jitters
CSU campuses have responded to the call to lower first-year dropout rates and raise graduation rates, particularly for students from low-income families, with large programs and small, welcoming gestures. Instead of harsh letters that students on academic probation had received, which could “scare them away,” Cal State Northridge sends out softer messages, directing students to campus resources and telling them “we want you back,” said Kim Henige, the college’s director of Academic First Year Experiences, coordinating workshops and programs to help new students transition successfully to the university. -- EdSource

She took part in the last three negotiations for the union’s Master Agreement, has served on the Executive Board since early 2015, and edits The Animation Guild’s long-running newsletter, The Pegboard.
