LOOKING AHEAD (JAN. 7-13): Cal Poly opens its 23rd season of Big West Conference play when visiting UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and hosting CSUN on Saturday, Jan. 12. Region 9 boys, girls basketball teams stay busy during holidays
After Christmas, the Flyers traveled to Riverton to take part in a four-day holiday tournament there. On Dec. 26, Dixie edged past Provo, 45-44, after which the Flyers beat Wasatch 69-59 the following day. Dixie then had its nine-game winning streak snapped on Friday with a 61-59 loss to Northridge. The Knights outscored Dixie 17-10 in the final quarter to win it. Dixie’s Ethan Bennett scored 15 to lead the Flyers. Dixie then wrapped up the Riverton tournament with a 64-50 loss to Kearns on Saturday. --St. George News
