Rating the rookies

A stellar performance for San Beda in the NCAA and Cignal in the PBA D-League makes the 24- year-old Potts a legitimate applicant for the rookie draft. The former Cal State Northridge player averaged 15.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists in the Red Lions' run to the title. :More than the talent, PBA coaches should also consider Potts’ work ethic. CSUN (14), UC Irvine (13) and UC Davis (11) occupy the top three seeds for the four-bid conference tournament, set to be hosted by CSUN on Nov. 2 and 5. With a victory at UCSB, Cal Poly (7-9-2 overall) could tie Cal State Fullerton (currently with 10 points) for the fourth and final berth — provided the Titans were to lose each of their last two games, coupled with select other results around the conference involving UC Riverside (9), Long Beach State (7) and UCSB (7) and Hawaii (4). -- San Luis Obispo Tribune

In my eyes, the trio of Johnson, Abbott and Gilligan probably stand as the prospects most likely to fight for those final spots. Obviously, Johnson the most likely player due to him being selected with the 12th overall pick. During his lone season at Cal-State Northridge, he impressed by putting up 13.8 points on 46% from the field and 37% from beyond the arc. Those averages pushed the 6’5 guard to maintain an impressive 60% True Shooting Percentage. -- Ridiculous Upside
