Evelyn Arambula

Major/Minor: Pre-Accountancy/Finance

Expected Graduation Date: Fall 2022

Hobbies/Interests: Some of my hobbies include traveling with every opportunity and experiencing different things. I enjoy hiking in different areas and maintaining a healthy diet.

Career Goals/Aspirations: In the near future, I hope to work for the IRS as an accountant audit and be able to get the most experience within my field. I also pursue to one day own my own firm and invest in real estate. I would love to continue traveling and endow to third world countries in need of water.

In 10 years, I see myself... : independent and happy. I see myself owning a successful business and being able to give back to my family. I want to have made many memorable experiences and most importantly looking forward to a stress-free life.

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: The culture and spirit within Creating Pathways is very genuine, I feel they really care and support their students. They give students the opportunity to succeed by providing them with required materials and even mentors. Creating Pathways is a program that has really made my college experience easier.

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: Creating Pathways is an asset to my education. I know I have the support of my mentors and Director to encourage and assist me through every single step in college. Creating Pathways is a program that will help me succeed.

 

Dylan Avendano

Major/Minor: Computer Animation 

Expected Graduation Date: Fall 2020

Hobbies/Interests: Comic books, Hiking, Biking, Music Festivals, Working Out, Drawing, Painting, and trying out new spots to eat. 

Career Goals/Aspirations: Would hopefully like to work on environments, lighting, or post production effects in the industry with my Bachelors and then pursuing my Masters. 

In 10 years, I see myself... : Either working in the animation field on my own project with my very own team or teaching computer animation. 

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I wanted to take my time at Unviersity seriously and be a part of something bigger than myself. When I saw what Creating Pathways has done for students I jumped at the opportunity of joining and hopefully becoming a mentor or tutor and giving back to CSUN and future Matadors. 

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: It means helping others become the best version of themselves and giving back to your community. 

 

Hazel Giron

Major/Minor: Art: Graphic Design

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2020

Hobbies/Interests: Designing, Drawing, and Reading

Career Goals/Aspirations: My career goals are to work for agencies that focus on editorial design or packaging design.

In 10 years, I see myself... : living my best life because I am doing what I truly enjoy: composing editorial designs and packaging designs for an agency that I am interested in. 

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I was motivated to apply to Creating Pathways because it is a program dedicated to helping students succeed in their academics-and even careers. I couldn't miss on this amazing opportunity because  I knew that Creating Pathways would provide me with many great resources that would help me thrive beyond my days at CSUN. 

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: Creating Pathways to me is the definition of dedication and success. It is a constant reminder for me to always look and move forward. 

 

Jaime Lozano

Major/Minor: Management

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2020

Hobbies/Interests: Hiking, Camping, Fishing, Traveling

Career Goals/Aspirations: To get a management job at either LAUSD or LA County

In 10 years, I see myself... : Working at a Monday-Friday job, with holidays off

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: The benefits such as getting a mentor and other resources to help complete my degree in two years

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: It's a program that helps students stay on track with their educational goals and help them save on textbooks

 

Kanchan Ranatunga

Major/Minor: Marketing

Expected Graduation Date: Fall 2020

Hobbies/Interests: I love hiking and I love horses, so my favorite thing to do is hike on horses. I also enjoy reading, going to the beach and driving in the canyons. 

Career Goals/Aspirations: Currently working as Client Relations/Marketing at Keller Williams and after my degree I am hoping to get my real estate license and start selling homes. 

In 10 years, I see myself... : in real estate development

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: One of the main reasons why I joined the program is the opportunity to work with a mentor and access to networking events related to my major. Along with the Lending Library and priority registration.

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: It means being a part of an important family at CSUN. The amazing help that they are providing for us to achieve our goals is unforgettable, and this positive impact will definitely lead to giving back to this family in whatever the ways that's possible.

 

Ngoc Tram Tran

Major/Minor: Graphic Design

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2020

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy listening to music, editing photos and pictures for blogs, playing the ukulele, watching foreign films, and traveling around to explore new cuisines.

Career Goals/Aspirations: My goal is to become a professional and successful graphic designer in the entertainment business. I aspire to use my skills to also make an impact on my community.

In 10 years, I see myself... : as a Graphic Designer making an impact on my community and inspiring those with the same interest to go forth in pursuing the career they want confidently. 

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: Being a new student transferring into CSUN was a huge stepping stone. I was in a new environment. When Creating Pathways emailed me about their program, I thought it would be best to join as they mentored transferred students in a specific field. I wanted to be part of a family on campus that I know I can count on to help prim and prep me into succeeding the University life and help me move into becoming a successful person.

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: Creating Pathways to me is defined as a close knitted family that provides all the necessities needed to help students become successful in school and outside once graduated. 

 

Amy Van

 Major/Minor: Accounting

Expected Graduation Date: Spring 2020

Hobbies/Interests: Capsule Wardrobe Ideas, Gemology, Jewelry Making, Traveling to the East Coast, Food and Wine Pairings

Career Goals/Aspirations: Establish a thriving tax career within public accounting, acquire a graduate degree relevant to my career, relocate to the D.C. area

In 10 years, I see myself... : as a successful tax manager within a well-established firm, residing in Northern Virginia, having a family, and continuing to inspire others around me to achieve their dreams. 

What motivated you to apply to Creating Pathways?: I applied to Creating Pathways because  I believe everyone deserves an opportunity to achieve their goals--especially if they are willing to work hard for them.

Transferring into a new school can be overwhelming. I wanted to connect with a program that's  geared to promote the success of students (such as myself) who may not have access to certain opportunities but want to improve their lives and assist their families. 

What does "Creating Pathways" mean to you?: For me, "Creating Pathways" means a path or bridge to reach your potential regardless of their personal circumstances.

Hobbies/Interests: Sewing, reading, and dancing

Career Goals/Aspirations: Financial Aid, public education, Government Administration

In 10 years, I see myself: Financially stable and homeowner working in a job that I enjoy and making a positive impact in as many lives as possible.

How has Creating Pathways/Abriendo Caminos helped you transition into life at CSUN?: As a transfer student, I felt that going into a CSU would be like going from a rookie league to a major league. Abriendo Caminos helped me navigate through all the requirements I need to stay on track with graduation, from meeting with an advisor to scheduling my UDWPE, they've assisted and have provided crucial resources, such as an amazing mentor and tutors to keep me stay on track and changing my mindset from, "a CSU was too big for me to succeed," to, "a CSU is a place to help me reach my goals."
