October 29, 2008 Spring 2009 Registration Access Mailer sent to eligible students.
November 3 Academic Advisement/First-Time Freshman Registration begins.
November 10 - December 10 Registration-by-Appointment. (Repeating courses is not permitted.)
November 11 Holiday; all offices closed; no instruction. (Veterans' Day).
November 26 Student Services Center closes at 5:00 p.m. (eve of Thanksgiving recess)
November 27 - 28 Thanksgiving Recess; all offices closed; no instruction; no Saturday class on 11/29 (Thanksgiving Day-Thursday, November 27; Admission Day Observed-Friday, November 28).
December 5 Application filing period begins for Fall 2009 graduation for undergraduates.
December 11, 2008-January 19, 2009 Nonrestrictive Registration (no appointment needed; repeating courses is permitted)
December 25, 2008-January 1, 2009 Winter Recess; all offices closed; no instruction. (Christmas Day-Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008; Lincoln's Birthday Observed-Friday, Dec. 26; Washington's Birthday Observed-Monday, Dec. 29; Columbus Day Observed-Tuesday, Dec. 30; no holiday observance-Wednesday, Dec. 31; New Year's Day-Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009)
January 1, 2009 2009-2010 Federal and California Financial Aid Application period begins. Priority consideration given to those who file FAFSA by March 2, 2009
January 12 First spring Financial Aid payments start this week (weekly thereafter)
January 19 Holiday; all offices closed; no instruction.

Last day to DROP all classes and qualify for a full refund (minus $10)
January 20 Weekday classes begin.
January 20-February 6 Late Registration (by permission only) and Schedule Adjustment

February 6 Last day to Register Late, Add classes using permission numbers, Drop a class, or Change Basis of Grading (end of Week 3).

Last day to qualify for a partial refund due to a drop in unit load below 6.1.
March 1 Deadline for previously disqualified undergraduate students to submit an application for re-admission for Fall 2009
March 2 Deadline for Financial Aid application priority consideration.
March 6 Last day to confirm awarding of baccalaureate degree for students who completed graduation requirements for Fall 2008.

Deadline to apply for Spring 2009 or Summer 2009 graduation in order to participate in Commencement.

Deadline to apply for Fall 2009 undergraduate graduation.
March 27 Last day to qualify for a prorated refund (60% point).

Students who remain enrolled after this date may not need to repay financial aid.
March 31 Holiday; all offices closed; no instruction (Cesar Chavez Day)
April 3 Application filing period begins for Spring 2010 and Summer 2010 graduation for undergraduates.
April 6-11 Spring Recess; no instruction
May 8 Last day of formal instruction, except for Saturday classes meeting once weekly.

Deadline for submitting thesis or graduate projects for Spring 2009.
May 9 Last day of formal instruction for Saturday classes meeting once weekly.
May 11-16 Final Examinations. 0700 classes will have final exams on Saturday, May 16. Grades are posted online approximately one week after finals.

March 31 Holiday; all offices closed; no instruction (Cesar Chavez Day)
April 7-13 Registration-by-Appointment - All Sessions for CSUN students only. Non-matriculated students register through the Tseng College.
April 14 Nonrestrictive Registration begins - All Sessions for All Students (no appointment needed). New: Repeating courses, regardless of the session, is not permitted until Summer Term begins on May 26.
May 25

Holiday; all offices closed; no instruction (Memorial Day Observed).

Last day to add classes without permission, Sessions 1 and 2.

Last day to drop all Session 1 or 2 classes and qualify for a full refund minus $10.

May 26 First Official Day of Summer Term
Session 1 begins (12 weeks).
Session 2 begins (6 weeks).

Repeating courses is permitted.
