who are we?

Five students from Psy 344 were randomly assigned for their destined creativity project. Though this particular group was only considered as “group 4”, we soon realized that we were something more:

The shy one, the rescuer, the storyteller, the graduate, and the stutterer all became good friends who want to make a difference.

our projects

Final project_____________________________________

this special assignment is dedicated for our four-legged loved ones.
many pets are put to sleep-shelters are overflowing with animals.
Thousands are killed every year.

for our group project, we decided to put our creativity together to make dog beds, sell them, and use our profits to save a dog and give him/her a home! =]
Some beds were donated to needy dogs in shelters and rescues.
We were able to rescue a dog from the South LA shelter with the money we raised before she was euthanized.

She is now in a great home in san diego. Be sure to watch the video we made to document our project!

Presentation: First, we showed our video (documenting our journey) then we showed a video that documents the life and death of animals in shelters. Ariel talked about rescue work-she showed a book called "shelter dogs" and a calendar of pictures of homeless dogs in downtown la (from downtown dog rescue)

book:

Next, we had groups play with baby chicks. This was our animal appreciation time.

"i'm surrounded by feet!"

____

For the remaining time, everyone drew a picture of an animal that has been important to them. These stories and pictures were shared within the group. The most touching story was then presented to the class.

first project___________________________________

our goal was to give the classroom activities that would help describe chapter 4 in creativity--beyond genius by robert w. weisberg. its topic: problem solving

activities

  • solve crime scene-cps model (for problem solving)

  • left vs. right brain hemisphere--we use each hemisphere for different types of problem solving

  • different uses for common objects--students were given random objects and had to come up with 10 alternative uses

  • creating something out of scrap--and sell it to the audience--groups were given garbage bags full of random shit from our trash bins (jk). it ranged from toilet paper rolls, tampons, to dog biscuit boxes. groups then had to create an invention which had to be "sold" to the class

items invented:

  • stylish hat with matching purse made of aluminum foil, tissue box, and pipe cleaners.
  • male order bride--consisting of balloons, toilet paper, and a t.a. (igor)
  • "the gift that keeps on giving" aka  a fake bomb: made out of water bottles, Christmas wrapping, cereal box, and a blank cd
  • robot bride--a dog biscuit box with telephone chord, cups, veil, pipe cleaner, and a wooden egg
