To save time and energy (not everyone is a fast typist), instructors can pre-write class announcements, lecture notes, or any other frequently used and repeated information.
During class discussions, with a single command (/play filename) the pre-written information can be sent to the channel you are on. In the above example, you would substitute the name of the file you created for the word filename. If I created a file called guest.txt to introduce the guest speaker for that mIRC session I would type: /play a:/guest.txt
For group discussions focusing on different tasks, for example, instructors can pre-write separate instructions for each group, and then send them without using online class time to type out the information.
