The Blues Project is a suicide prevention program run by University Counseling Services. Student volunteers are trained to be peer educators, giving presentations to fellow students to increase awareness about depression and suicide.

Main Objectives:

Teaching suicide prevention is important for everyone because all of us at times in our lives may have a class, job, or situation that will bring us in contact with a person who has a high risk for suicide. Anyone can have suicidal thoughts; there is no particular characteristic. Suicide crosses gender, age, socioeconomic status, and racial, ethnic and religious groups. All of us may be able to save lives if we know how to recognize the danger of suicide and what to do about it.
