 GENERAL INFORMATION: 

 1. Attendance: Regular attendance is indispensable for learning  the class material. Absences
must be reported promptly, and areason given,  to the secretary at 677-3467. The attendance
policy of the department is in effect which specifies that your grade can be lowered because of
absences. 
2. Quizzes: Study sheets for the readings in Ovidl will be provided.THERE ARE NO
PROVISIONS FOR MAKE-UPS except for your own extended, verified illness 
(three days or more), or death in your immediate family. The quizzes are given at the beginning of
the class; a person who leaves after taking the quiz and before the class ends will have the quiz
counted as a zero.     
3. Grading: Average of the quizzes 40%. The lowest quiz grade is dropped in computing your
quiz average IF you have taken ALL of the quizzes and IF the score of the last quiz is at least as
high as the average of the preceding quizzes Mid-Term 30%, final examination 30%. Plus-minus
grading is used for computing all grades. 
4. Field Trip: There will be a field trip to the J.P. Getty Museum. Failure to attend will result in a
grade of Incomplete. Complet information about the trip will be provided early in the course.     
5. Etiquette: No eating during class. Also, reading of newspapers or working on assignments for
other classes is not permitted . Please turn off all clle phones, pagers and all noise making devices. 
 6. Recording: Electronic audio or visual devices are not allowed without the express
permission of the professor. 
 7. The professor reserves the right to make changes in the course but any will be announced
beforehand.
