B. Department Statistics

There are currently over 1225 majors in the Department's 6 majors
and nine different degrees. In addition, there are over 200
students working toward one of the Credential or Certificate
programs. The Department of Health Science has been consistently
ranked as one of the 5 or 6 largest Departments at CSUN, based
upon FTES generation, number of majors, and/or number of
graduates. Every Program meets or exceeds state, regional or
national accreditation professional standards.

The Center for Health Research and Community Service is located
within the Department of Health Science at California State is
a chartered member of the School of Communication, Health and Human
Services Institute. The Center is the mechanism through which faculty
and the department can offer: workshops, conferences, certificates of
completion, speaker's bureau, conduct research/scholarly
projects, and other activities that benefit the community. The
Center is non-profit and can accept donations as well as fee for
service events.

Recent activities of the Center consist of: CPR classes for
teacher certification; a fluoroscopy course for professional
radiographers, and management workshops for dental hygienists.

The Center consists of various Forums and Councils which help to
focus the activities of the Center and emphasize the special
skills and interests of the programs in the Department. The
Forums are major activities of the Center, while Councils are
more informal arrangements. Currently we have the following
Forums and Councils:
