Ê What's MacMolecule2? MacMolecule2 is the successor to our MacMolecule 1.0, MacMolecule1.5, and MacMolecule 1.7 programs. MacMolecule2 reads a molecule specification file and displays it on your computer screen. With MacMolecule2's fast rendering engine you can open molecules with thousands of atoms and rotate them in real-time with the mouse. These large molecules are rendered with excellent quality and speed. Why Demo? The demo version is a good opportunity for users to try our program to see if it will suit their purposes. Although some features of the demo are disabled, users should be able to get a good feel for how our program can help them explore and present molecules with amazing ease. There is a freeware version call MacMolecule2 Lite available from . Demo features The demo version can not save files, record quicktime movies, export to GIF, PICT, or BMP, and has a small "demo banner" in the center of the molecule display. On the other hand, the demo can read PDB files and scripted MacMolecule2 files and perform all display, search, and manipulation functions. All of MacMolecule2's core capabilities can be explored with the enclosed sample files. How do I buy it? We've priced the full version of MacMolecule2 at $39(US). Information on how to buy a full working version of MacMolecule2 is available on the world wide web at or in the "How to Purchase" document accompanying this demo. Support Purchasing the full version MacMolecule entitles the purchaser to 1 year of technical support via email and 6 months of free software updates as they are made available. Contact mvsupport@molvent.com for more information. Features The following is a summary of the features available in the full version of MacMolecule2: * Very fast rendering speed and file opening. * Low memory requirements. * Runs on MacOS back to 7.1 and Windows back to 3.11 (with Win32s). * Direct reading of all MacMolecule files. * Direct reading of PDB files. * Quicktime movie recording of molecule manipulations, with pause. * Color printing. * Various file export formats: o GIF file export for direct inclusion into web pages. o PICT file export (MacOS only). o BMP file export (Windows only). * Copy molecule to system clipboard as PICT or BMP. * User definable preferences in easy to use dialog. * Ultra configurable selection language to find parts of large molecules: o Regular expression language to select atoms by their associated comments. o Very fast selection of atoms by number. o Extensive repertoire of combinatorial operators including union, intersection, XOR, and 2-way subtraction. o Selection inversion. o Ability to easily save expressions by name AND include them in any molecule file. * An extensive list of molecule modification commands: o Hide atoms with eraser tool or hide the current selection. o Color the current selection. o Set the molecule's light source direction. o Background color. o Stick color. o Measurement line color. * Popular viewing modes: o Wire frame with smooth antialiased lines o Ball and Stick o Space filling o Ribbon Wire o Ribbon Filled * Zooming from menu item. * Stereo viewing which is completely interractive. * Auto rotation with control over degrees, speed, and number of iterations. * Scriptable views: Script views automatically by modifying the molecule and saving the modifications to a view. * Annotated text: Any view may be annotated with up to 32000 characters of didactic text. * Molecule windows contain: (as sampled in our manual) o A list box for all views. Click on the name of any view of a molecule to show it instantly. o A text box containing a view's didactic text. o A toolbar for modifying the molecule and measurements: + Measure distance + Measure angle + Measure dihedral angle o A status area for viewing any atom's comments. * Please see our manual for more detail.
