CLASS PROJECT GUIDELINES _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Your class project is a report that consists of each of the following ordered components. 1. Table of Contents 2. A Copy of Your Sample Survey Form 3. Data Production Component a) Insert a map of CSUN campus with a complete numbered list of all the locations that were used in SRS b) Give a list of the locations where your sample was collected; Specify the line from Table B that was used c) Give a list of days of week that your sample was collected; Specify the line from Table B that was used d) Give a list of time slots when your sample was collected; Specify the line from Table B e) Give a complete procedure that you used to make the assignment of the locations to days to time slots and to your group members; Specify all details including all lines from Table B f) This component should be elaborated in full detail and as accurately as possible. 4. Central Limit Theorem component a) Coin Toss Experiment b) Roll of Dice Experiment 5. Data Analysis Component Your report should contain at least one of each of the following graphs. You should describe each distribution (chart) as accurately as possible; Use the mean and the standard deviation when appropriate. State any conclusion that may be drawn from the chart about the distribution of the corresponding variable. a) Histogram b) Stemplot c) Barchart d) Piechart e) Boxplot 6. Statistical Regression Component a) State your hypothesis clearly b) State the explanatory variable X and the response variable Y c) Make a scatter plot of your data d) Describe the scatter plot you made in part (c). What conclusion(s) can you make about the validity of your hypothesis from part(a)? e) Calculate the correlation coefficient, r, for your data set. Based on the value of r what can you conclude about the nature of the linear correlation between X and Y? f) Find and state the equation of the line of regression g) Use the line of regression in part (f) to make a prediction for a value of the response variable, Y 7. Inference for a Population Mean Component a) Test of Confidence for a Population Mean b) Test of Significance for a Population Mean 8. Inference for a Population Proportion Component a) Test of Confidence for a Population Proportion b) Test of Significance for a Population Proportion 9. Self and Groupmate Evaluations (you will not receive a grade for your project without these evaluations)
