RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Answer
each of the following questions. Be sure to bring a draft of your proposal to
your meeting with me next week. The final version is due November 1 by 11:59 pm.
1. What
research question will your paper seek to answer?
[Answer
with a single question. If you wish to add “sub-questions” after the primary
question, you may do so.]
2. What
is your story about?
[Answer
in a 2-3 paragraph narrative – a
basic summary of what you plan to write about. It should be a coherent narrative. Like any story, it
should have a beginning, a middle, and an end.]
3. What
will we learn in this story?
[List
in bullet point form the basic points your paper will cover. You may not end up
covering all of the points you list in your paper, but use this as an
opportunity to brainstorm – think of all the possible points you might make
over the course of 15 pages.]
4. Why
is this an important story?
[Answer
in 1 paragraph.]
5. What primary
sources have you found that will give you the information necessary to tell
your story?
[You
may list them. If they are web sources, provide the links. Before you start
your list, make sure you know what a primary source is.]
6. What are the three
biggest challenges that you will need to meet before turning in your draft on
November 22nd?
[You may list them,
but be specific.]
