- Regarding reading assignments involving the Yule book-- I'm going to leave on the schedule the references to the Yule chapters. Those will now be suggested readings. For 10/14 then, the Yule chapter on Modals is suggested. Reread KF chapter 3. Also, be sure to go to the modal page listed below.
- Key to exercises from Chapter 3 in textbook and exercises book is here.
- For practice, go to PRACTICE - VERB PHRASES. Analyze the verb phrases found in this text. Determine the form of the verb and try to determine why that particular form was used.

There's a new practice text on the Practice page reviewing the different uses of 'THAT.'
Go again to the Practice page for another look at the collaborative filtering article. You'll find under "Form and Function" an exercise like those we did in class on 11/24. This exercise is important practice for the final. You'll be expected to do this kind of thing. Go to PRACTICE.

On the exercises page, I've put the punctuation text from class (Cryin' Ryan), EX 9.3 and EX 10.1.You might, of course, have used different conjunctive adverbs or subordinating conjuctions. Notice the punctuation used in each exercise. Go to Key to Exercises and click on Punctuation, EX 10.1, or EX 9.3.
You can also find the Cryin' Ryan text on the Practice page. It is the basis for another Form and Function exercise. Go to PRACTICE.
