Creative Genius:
Kristopher
Dukes

What inspires
you to be creative?
Money so I can buy more mink coats and Christian
Louboutin pumps. But
above that, a desire/drive/passion for creating. And money.
Can you see your finished product before you start it?
Yes. I don't like to start building with a clear idea
of what I am
making and why.
Is there anything special that you do to get into a
creative mindset?
Nothing, except a dozen soy lattes.
What message, if any, do you try to put into your work?
I strive to be entertaining while
communicating independent
thought/opinion formed by logic. Deep for a
fashion blogger, right?
Do you
ever find yourself unable to express your creativity to the fullest? What
kinds of things inhibit you?
Never enough time! My fantasy is to never have to
sleep, which is
partly why I drink about six soy lattes a day.
Do you ever find youself limited by the materials that
you have available?
Sometimes, but I never let that stop
me. If I can't buy someone to do
it - such as hiring someone to build my site -
I study and do it
myself.
Who is your greatest influence?
Probably Ayn Rand.
Do you feel that you chose your "passion," or did it
chose you?
Chose it. I choose it every day. The idea that people
are born
"lucky" with passion is bull shit. Everyone I know
that is truly
passionate about what they do earns it everyday by working
hard.
Is there a particular place where you feel most
creative?
No, though I find beautiful/intelligence places and
things -
everything from the Getty to a mink coat - inspiring.
If you hadn't chosen your field, what would your
alternate field have
been?
Professional flapper. Or fashion designer or broadcast
journalist.
