SED 695A - Special Studies on Social Studies Curriculum
This version of 695A (the first that has been offered in >5 years) is a new experimental course that looks at the technology tools that are available to support students learning in History, Civics, Politics, Economics and other Social Science classes. The class will cover the basics of using the web and online resources, presentation tools and interactive software especially computer games. Games are a hot topic in educational technology as the new games have become very sophisticated and engage students in complex reasoning - often in historical contexts. Now there is a game Making History that is designed specifically for secondary school. So this is a perfect core topic for this course.
