Introduction to Special Education

Chapter 1:  Defining Special Education


Hello, everyone!  Congratulations for making it this far!

Listed below are the directions for signing on to the Prentice Hall 
webpage and for the first assignment.  If you have any questions 
at all, please email me: Email me at tamarah.ashton@csun.edu

1st Assignment

Follow these steps in order after carefully reading all of the 
directions.  You may want to print out these directions so 
you'll have them handy.

1. Go to the Prentice Hall website.  The address is 
   http://www.prenhall.com/heward

2. Click on Your Profile.

3. Complete the following boxes:
	a. My Name
	b. E-mail
	c. Instructor (be sure to enter Tamarah Ashton and 
	   tamarah.ashton@csun.edu
	d. Under Send My Quiz Results To:
	   i.  Check the box next to Instructor.
   	   ii. Select "As Plain Text" to have results 
	       sent to yourself and me.

4. Ignore the "Mailing List Subscription."  We won't be using that 
   feature.

Now, for the REAL assignment:
1. Return to http://www.prenhall.com/heward

2. At the bottom of this page, you will see a scroll box entitled 
   "Select a Chapter."  Choose Chapter 1, Defining Special Education, 
   and click on "Begin."

3. You should now see the objectives for Chapter 1.  Down the left 
   hand side of the screen you should see a list including the words: 
   Objectives, Guided Review, Multiple Choice, IEP Planning, Resources, 
   Message Board, and others.

4. For Chapter 1, the multiple choice questions are due by midnight 
   on 2/12/01.  

Hint:  You can print out questions, complete them at your 
leisure and then return to the site to enter your answers.
