CBS sports line is one of the leading media companies providing detail sports information onto the cyber world. It is a real treat for the American population of sport lovers. CBS sports line covers the latest news from popular north American sports like NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB to the unpopular ones like cricket which half the Americans don’t know about and the rest are mesmerized by the use of a flat bat to hit the ball in the game. However on logging on to the site it is evident that the site is powered in the interest of mainly the north Americans therefore news on sports such as NBA make it to the homepage of the site with big fonts and colored links to catch the attention of the reader and the others such as wrestling are side tracked. But, a search can be made on any sport news on the site and it takes only a second to retrieve information one has been looking for.
The homepage of CBS sports line is strategically set up with the latest and most spicy news at the top in bold letters and ordinary news followed at the bottom. The homepage is restricted to the most recent news and the rest have to be searched for. Another attractive feature is a window titled score which displays the final scores of NBA, NHL, MLB etc. It is very handy for those who may have missed the game and would want a quick glance at the final score and the resulting winning team.
The best feature I found to be on the site was the links to news on popular sports of America at the national and college level. On moving the mouse to one of the sports e.g. NBA results in a drop down menu which shows headlines of updated NBA news and a link a to the official site of NBA. It also offers informative links about the sport which could help somebody who does not follow sports on TV e.g. team names, team standings, team player, player performance and even a subheading named injury. It is indeed very helpful and extremely user friendly.
As we can see, the use of picture, graphics and video is done well for the homepage but on going deeper into the site I found it be a little dry because all it contained was a lot of text and advertisements. They could make reading pleasurable by adding graphics or some pictures beside the text. It would give the site a more lively appearance.
The site also entertains links to other CBS units like the CBS news and CBS.com for quickly swapping from the sports news to the world news. CBSsportsline.com is indeed one of the most detailed and user friendly sports site in America.
