Definition of
Vision Impairments:


  1. Measured by how MUCH (peripheral field of vision), & how CLEARLY (visual acuity) it can be seen

  2. LEGAL BLINDNESS: 0% - 10% of normal vision in both eyes (20/200 or less), & /or 20% or less of normal peripheral vision in both eyes

  3. LOW VISION or PARTIALLY SIGHTED: visual acuity & /or field of vision is less than normal, or having a visual limitation in only one eye
    * Vision limited to a narrow angle in the center is called TUNNEL VISION

  4. OTHER VISION IMPAIRMENTS include Learning Disabilities which interfere with the perception of visual or written information
