Exam 1 Assignment (Due by 8:00 AM Tuesday, Sept 24, 2013)

Pick TWO passages by Marx and/or Engels from those contained in this .pdf file. (It contains passages from STCE and ONLINE).

Without reproducing the chosen passages (simply identify each by its number in the .pdf file linked to, above), write an essay for each passage (i.e. two essays in total), explaining in your own words its main points and relating them to Marx and Engels’ larger theory/ies. Each essay should contain no more than 600 words; there is no minimum. Use no more than two quotes per essay, either from the assigned primary Marx and Engels readings themselves, or from the secondary discussion provided in STCE. Each of any such quotes may not exceed 40 words. Cite the source in-text, by using this format: (STCE, p. 39) or (ONLINE, p. 2). No need for a “Works Cited” or “Bibliography”.

Combine the two essays in one document and save it. Then:

1. Print the document and bring a hard-copy to class

AND

2. E-mail an electronic copy (in .doc or .docx or .rtf format) to stavros.karageorgis@csun.edu as an attachment
