Professional Information

Currently, I am in the Four Year Integrated (FYI) Credential program at California State University, Northridge.   I finished all of my coursework in Mathematics in Spring 2007 and in the Fall 2007, I am enrolled in my S ED 555 Student Teaching Assignment at Northridge Academy High School.  The student teaching is my last course to receiving my Preliminary Single Subject Credential in Mathematics.  Then, I plan on looking for a full-time position in the Spring or Fall of 2008.

Academic Goals

My academic goals are simple.  I would like to finish my preliminary single subject credential in Mathematics and begin teaching full-time at a high school in 2008.  After I have taught for a year or so, I will graduate with a Masters of Education.  Sometime after my Masters and teaching for several years, I think I will go back to school and possibly earn my Adminitrative credemtial and/or Ed.D. Ultimately, I'd like to be a HS principal.

About Me…Image of Selena

Hi! My name is Ms. Selena Collier. I am originally from Canyon Country, CA. I have two brothers, Daniel (16) and Robert (14), and a single mom, Yvette, who I love very much. They still live in Canyon Country but now, I live in Northridge to finish school at CSUN.

Currently I am a first year teacher at Vaughn Chater in San Fernando. Many people ask me why I look so young.  It’s simple.  I started school at the age of 4, then I skipped fifth grade.  After graduating high school at 16 yrs. old, I finished my B.A. in 4 short years.  Now at 20 yrs. old, I am finishing my credential and beginning my Masters.

I have chosen to become a Math teacher because I love Math!  I love to work with numbers.  I love to teach because sharing my knowledge with others is so rewarding.  I like to think that I am helping to transform students into future teachers, architects, doctors, etc.  This is a rewarding thought.  I love Math and I love teaching it!

Don’t be scared to send an email to Ms. Collier to ask any questions.
