Interview with Esti Ashkenazi- Creative Genious

 

Esti Ashkenazi is a world champion salsa dancer and choreographer , she has helped to shape the salsa style in Los Angeles and even the world .

She typically competes in a cabaret idvision of salsa which involves many amazing lifts, she is an amazing inspiration , both to me and

1.How did you get into what you do creatively?
 
A:. my mom first put me into ballet when i was 4 yrs old I acctually found it boring and went on to gymnastics , my mom than put me into proffesional skating when i was 10 yrs old because she didnt think i was a good enough gymnist. Well I loved skating and this is how it all started ..

2. Do you think that you would be able to teach what you do?

A: yes i believe i can but I also believe that no artist would want to teach all of their secrets :) , so I teach some but never all.

3. What inspires you?

A: Certain Music , costumes or when i see some extrodinary dance, or when i sit at home by mtself and think

4. What do you do to get into your creative zone?

A: Put on music , dim the lights and take our my sowing machine.... well i also tend to talk to myself alot when i get excited about something .

5.What is your favorite accomplishment?

A: When I got first place in the Mayan World Championship I allways heard about it in my country and it was allways a fantasy of mine to win it.... i guess it was a dream come true ,,

6.Do you ever create hidden meanings or messages in your work? Explain

A:No not realy , I try to keep my choreography sexy but classy .

7.Do you enjoy sharing your work with others or do you prefer to go unnoticed? Why?

A: Of Course ! I enjoy people seeing my work ! I feel like they can realy see who i am through it.

8.Do you pay attention to others' strong reactions to your work? Does that affect what you create?

A: Always , I think its a must for a dancer .... If people have bad chriticism it makes me want to work harder ,,, if its good i know i did a good job.

9. Who do you define as a visionary?

A: Alex De Silva , Jesus Aponte they are ones of the best dancers in the world ! they ar eextrodinary and creative , they realy put their soul into it.

10.If your creative work were edible, what would it taste like?

A:. Chocolate ! it allways makes me feel good , and i want people to feel the same when looking at my work !

 

I think She is creative because she is unique , makes her own costumes and own choreography
