Essential Information

Emergency

Medical Emergency

If you have a medical emergency, please call 911 from any campus phone (24 hours/day). Campus police will answer the call and dispatch officers and/or paramedics as necessary. An emergency is any problem that may require immediate medical attention. It takes priority over less urgent medical complaints. Head injuries, difficulty breathing, chest pain, heavily bleeding wounds, repeated vomiting, extreme pain, or feeling faint are just a few examples of emergencies.

During regular Klotz Student Health Center business hours, if you walk in with an emergency, you will be given immediate attention. If the clinician decides the problem requires more extensive care than we can provide, you will be treated at the nearest hospital. We encourage all students to carry some type of health insurance in case such an emergency arises.

Fonemed

After hours, evenings, weekends and University holidays, Fonemed, a free telephone nurse service contracted by the Klotz Student Health Center, can answer medical questions or direct you to open healthcare resources at your own cost. This service is available ONLY to currently enrolled students of Cal State Northridge.

This service cannot make or cancel appointments with the Klotz Student Health Center, review CSU immunization requirements, clear registration holds, nor address any non-medical questions such as CSU Northridge academic policies and procedures.

To reach Fonemed, call: (877) 678-3999. Please have your current student ID number available.

After Hours Care

When the Klotz Student Health Center is closed (either after-hours, weekends or University holidays), medical care is available at local urgent-care centers or hospitals.
