California Land Cover Maps

 

Below are links to a series of maps depicting a variety of land cover in the state of California.  Areas highlighted in bright pink depict the location of the indicated land cover.  You may access them individually or in series by using the next>> back<< links. 

 

You should analyze the patterns you see and be able to reconcile your observations with what you already know about the amount and duration of heat, light, moisture each region in California receives.  Also consider the effect of slope and aspect on the vegetation maps, what the location of agricultural areas suggests about regional climates and soils.  For specific on what these classifications mean, see:
