Group Project Poetry Group                                                                                  "Kids Say The Darndest Things"

Our group came up with questions to ask children of different ages because we were curious  how a person's idea of creativity changes as they get older.

Questions we asked the children:

1- What is creativity?   2- Have you ever made anything creative"    3- What is imagination?    4- Who do you think is a creative person?

5- Problem Solve: A hotel has been having customers complain that the elevator is too slow. It takes much too long and customers want hotel management to solve the problem. It’s up to you, the Hotel Manager, to come up with a solution to make the elevator work better. What would you do?

Robert 5 years old

1- " Creativity is finger-painting because my teacher said so ". 2- " My teacher is creative ". 3- " I made a turkey when I finger painted ". 4- " Imagination is to have powers ". 5-" I don’t know. I would change the speed level " .

Mimi 5 years old

1- "Arts and crafts". 2- "A mask, arts and crafts, coloring". 3- "You whisper something". 4- " Stu, cause it's fun, cause he's cool". 

Kayla: 6 years old

1-" Like, maybe like painting. Kinda, like, like you can do a lot of stuff. You’re talented with stuff" . 2- " I made a picture. I drew it. Wanna see it ?" 3- " Imagination like, like when you want to go to space you can imagine it in your head and you could be in spac". 4- " I think High School Musical is creative! " 5- " I would press, if I had a button. I would push a button to make it go faster because it’s in slow motion". 

 Angela  8 years old  

1-" Creativity is what mommy does when she cooks ". 2- " I think my mom is creative; she buys me games that are creative and fun ". 3-" Yes, I made a house out of legos " .4- " Imagination is daydreaming in clas ". 5- " Would call the elevator company and tell them to fix it ".

Marquez:  9 years old

1-Umm, drawing, umm painting. I don’t know. Umm Pokemon, Transformers. Umm NBA"' 2- "I’ve painted pictures, (Pictures of what?) Of guns and lasers". 3- "Imagination of what you think of pretending to be in the ocean or being underground". 4- "Black White T’s their song, “Hey there Delilah” . 5- "I would call the night guy. I would buy some tools to make the elevator go faster so people won’t complain so they can get to their suites faster".  

 Madison 12 years old

1- "  Creativity is something that can be made or seen. I think that creativity is using lots of pretty colors and using your imagination ". 2-" Yes I have made a lot of creative things. For Christmas I made my mom a fruit holder made from Popsicle sticks. It was really pretty. I painted it purple and blue and then put red flowers all around it. I also made my dad a key chain using pretty lanyards ". 3-" Imagination is anything that you think inside of your head ". 4-" I think that Miley Cyrus is a creative person. I really like her show on Disney Channel and I saw her in concert and she was really cool. I think she is creative because she plays Hannah Montana and herself. I think that is cool ". 5-" I would just have the hotel build another Elevator so that more people can ride at the same time. That would make the customers very happy ".

Robert 12 years old

1-" When you have a good sense of style and you don't follow other people, and create your own thing ". 2- " I draw designs and iron them onto tee-shirts ".3-"When you think about anything you want" . 4- " My cousin Brandon because I like the way he dresses and my cousin Ryan because he is a good artist ". 5- " I would call an electrician ".

Christine, 15 years old.

1- " Creativity is something that could be what you experience like writing poems". 2- "I wrote an essay that had to do about my friends notebook full of poems. And I’ve made art and crafts for my mom" 3- "I think of going to my own little world my happy place, to get away from where I’m at. I think of Italy countries I want to go to".4- "My friend Jennifer. She has her own unique style and thoughts. Her own jokes and funny she is the kind of girl that will make you laugh if your down".5- "Try very hard to speed up the elevator, a free pass to go somewhere and be happy. Make three elevators and make an exit for stairs".

Danielle16 years old

1-" When you express yourself without using words in some kind of artwork ".  2-" Yes I have in school I make lots of ceramic and stained glass art ". 3-"Where you think about stuff in your head ". 4- " My grandma and my mom, because my mom does mosaic art and my grandma is a photographer ". 5- " I would kindly ask them to stop complaining and take the stairs if they are in a rush".
