Preliminary Administrative Services
PLEASE NOTE! All Preliminary Administrative Services credential recommendations made after June 30, 2013 will require five (5) years of experience and a currently held Clear credential.
2012
School Nurse
The School Nurse Program has been suspended until further notice and is no longer accepting new students. If you are a current student in this program, please contact the chair of the Nursing Department, Dr. Marianne Hattar-Pollara (Marianne.hattar@csun.edu ; office phone 818-677-4081).
APLE
The Student Aid Commission has informed us that they are no longer accepting new APLE applications. If your application has previously been submitted it is our understanding that those will be honored. For future updates regarding APLE please visit the Student Aid Commission website.
Effective Spring 2013, the processing fee for all program applications will be $25.00.
All Spring 2013 applications must include a money order or cashier's check in the amount of $25.00.
Fall 2012 Deadline Dates:

The experimental Health Science courses (HSCI 396HS, HSCI 496TH, and HSCI 496ADO) have been renamed and the changes are in effect for Spring 2012.
- HSCI 396HS has been renamed to HSCI 365LS
- HSCI 496TH has been renamed to HSCI 465ELM
- HSCI 496ADO has been renamed to HSCI 466ADO
The Commission on Teacher Credentialing is in the process of changing to a new recommendation system.
Credentials recommended by CSUN and not paid and process completed by the candidate are in jeopardy of being deleted. At this time we anticipate the new system being in place by mid November. If CSUN has recommended you for a Credential or Certificate please complete the process as soon as possible.

New Special Education ACT –R (residency)
Important SPED 401C will be offered for the last time in Summer Session 2010. The new course to meet this requirement is SPED 420.
All Post Baccalaureate and FYI/JYI students applying for Spring 2011 admission will need to fully meet the Basic Skills Requirement. This will not apply to ITEP students.

SED Seminar Information
CLAD certificate coursework: CSUN has submitted a CLAD through CTEL certificate program to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and was granted approval by the Committee on Accreditation. Application packets are now available.

Education Specialist with English Learner Authorization
Changes to the Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credentials.
Assembly Bill 2837 required the Commission on Teacher Credentialing to establish a two-tier credential authorizing speech and language services entitled the Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential.

Advanced Teaching English Learner Requirement (Effective July 1, 2005)

Subject Matter Competency (Multiple Subject Credential Program– Effective May 1, 2004)
Effective May 1, 2004 Verification of having passed the appropriate elementary subject matter examination (MSAT or CSET:MS) is required to apply for admission to the Multiple Subject Credential Program. Candidates in Blended/Integrated programs must check with the Credential Office. For more details, please call the Credential Office at 818 677-2586.
Subject Matter Competency (Education Specialist Credential Program – Effective June 1, 2004)
Effective June 1, 2004 Verification of having passed the entire appropriate subject matter examination(s) is required for admission to apply for the Education Specialist Credential Program in Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Severe and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Disabilities. Candidates who will be teaching multiple subjects must fulfill their subject matter requirement by passing the entire MSAT or CSET: MS. Candidates who will be teaching only one subject may fulfill their subject matter requirement by passing the appropriate examination(s). Candidates in Blended/Integrated programs must check with the Credential Office. For more details, please call the Credential Office at (818) 677-2586.

- All program application or evaluation fees are non-refundable and should be made payable to “CSU Northridge.” Include your CSUN ID number (or the last four digits of your social security number if you do not have a CSUN ID number yet).
