Palm Springs is known for scorching temperatures in the summer, but take the tramway up to 8,000 feet and the tempature drops about 30 degrees. At the top of the tramway you'll find tons and tons of boulders to climb... but you can easily get lost looking for a specific boulder or even the trail back to the tramway. Even if you have the guidebook for the area you'll still get lost because the maps in the book suck and they don't show landmarks or easily identifiable things. If you're claustrophobic or don't like heights don't go on the tram.
