Just outside the town of Running Springs is a place called Keller Peak. There's a few places to sport climb that are all pretty hard (but super fun). When I went there with Cole & some friends we met some guys who had set up a highline. I didn't try it cause I suck at slacklining, but Cole & a few others did. One guy made it across (don't have pictures of him) but everyone else fell!
New Jack City is located by Barstow, CA and offers camping and sport climbing.
Just about an hours drive outside of the Valley, up Highway 2 you will find Horseflats and a concentrated field of granite bouldering among pine trees. Watch out for snakes and annoying flies in the summertime. Its a great day trip but there is also a campground to stay at.
Miniholland boulders are right on the side of the road along Mullholland Drive. The rock is sort of chossy, and the problems are pretty easy, but its fun if you're driving by & want to stop for a quick climb or two.
Down the road a little ways from Malibu Creek State Park are the Malibu tunnel boulders. They're in a creek and there's tons of poison oak, but its still a fun place to climb (even though the water in the creek isn't swimmable... lots of gross brown algee)
The Santa Monica Mountains offer many different areas to climb, most of them involving a long hike.
