Website Design and Digital Portfolios

Creating a website for their classes is becoming popular amongst secondary education teachers in our schools today. The values of creating your own website are many: better communication with students and parents, providing links for students to make research easier, posting homework assignments and documents, and increasing interest in your classes are just a few of the reasons for creating your own site.

Additionally, websites can serve as Digital Portfolios. Digital Portfolios are a way of showcasing student projects and achievements. Portfolios are designed to be able to grow with students, as they add new components and update others, ultimately telling the story of a student's efforts, progress, or achievement in a given area. More important, it improves technical literacy, increases motivation and performance in the subject, and allows for easy and authentic assessment.
