Having Students Create a Digital Archive
As with other student generated projects, the having students create digital archives is a valuable teaching tool. Scholars have noted that digital archives allow students a feeling of participation, and help them to investigate immediate concerns of their world, with historical causes and implications. Digital archives also give students a much greater access to sources and information than was previously possible, since the typical way to access historical documents prior to the Web was to visit a physical archive. This access allows students to evaluate primary sources online, thus encouraging analytical thinking.
