About Psi Chi
Psi Chi is an international honor society for psychology students that was founded in 1929 to stimulate and encourage scholarship and advance the study of psychology. It is one of the largest honor societies in the world with over one thousand chapters and half a million members.
Psi Chi is affiliated with the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS), and it is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
The society provides many opportunities for community involvement, networking, academic and research awards and research. Psi Chi hosts many events throughout the academic year, and we encourage all students to participate.
Frequently Asked Questions
I'm interested in joining, and I almost have a 3.0 GPA. Am I eligible?
Unfortunately, you need a 3.0 or higher to be able to join. Good luck this semester, and hopefully we will see you as a member next semester!
If my GPA goes down, will I be kicked out?
No. Once you are a member, it is for life.
Is there a deadline to apply?
We have a rolling admissions policy, but if you want to be included in the year's induction ceremony, consider turning in your application before March of that year. ;)
What is the Psi Chi induction/initiation ceremony?
It is a ceremony where new members are welcomed to the society, awards are handed out and free food is provided. It is held once a year during the spring semester.
How do I get on the Executive Board?
Thank you for your interest! Please take a look here.
Are there any meetings I have to attend?
We send out emails about all events and meetings. Attendance at these meetings will not be required, but it is a good way to get information about what is going on in Psi Chi. The Psi Chi website is also frequently updated with any new information or events.
Executive board members, however, are required to attend officer meetings, though accomodations are made for special circumstances.
I have a question that wasn't answered here, and I think it belongs in the FAQs section.
Ask away, and if the question is asked often enough, it will appear here. :) Email psichi.csun@gmail.com
