Writing Process Analytical Essay

.

For your final essay, thoughtfully and honestly consider your growth as a writer this semester. In examining your own writing process, please review the "self-audit" from week one. In your 500 word analysis, compare and contrast your feelings and writing abilities from the beginning to the end of our course. Include areas you still feel need improvement. Please avoid brief "yes" or "no" answers! Please post your analysis in our final WebCT whole-class discussion forum during our last week of class!

1. Have you altered the source of your writing ideas?

2. Is getting started easier, the same? Is it still difficult to start a paper? Why?

3. Note changes in what keeps you going and/or what stops you from writing.

4. Are you still critical too early in the writing process? Do you still have difficulty constructively criticizing your own writing? Note any improvements!

5. Where are you when you write your best and what are you doing? Note changes.

6. Have our multiple drafts altered your revision process? Do you find revising and giving/receiving feedback beneficial?

7. Do you write drafts in longhand, on a typewriter, at the computer? Has this changed this semester?

8. Revise the following sentences from the writing self-audit and expand on each answer with a few additional sentences:

     For me, writing is like…
     For me, revising is like…
     For me, reading is like…
