Portfolio Review.  Come to class with your assumptions of what you think a portfolio review is about. This is Exercise 1

—Read from Project Briefs. Decide which one you will work on. Begin brainstorming ideas.

Writing Assignment 1: Research: Provide information about the company you chose and their target market and any other related information, including design research as well. Place all information in a folder. To submit to professor. Make sure you obtain a copy for yourself. You will need it for your thumbnails and ideas.

(You might want to start making thumbnail sketches).

 

(Research is evaluated based on how thorough you are and the quality of the information you discovered. Neatness and presentation are important)

 

TIP: See Homework due for Thursday. If you are busy on Tuesdays or have difficulty getting Wed. assignments in, then look at homework section on Mon.  which is due on Wed.

—Create 50 thumbnail sketches on your ideas for your Project 1.  Included sample of existing design and/ photographs that depict the style.

Exercise 2
: Create a 4-minute presentation of your ideas and where you are going with this project. Because of the short amount of time you have, you better have the presentation working and timed.  Don’t use technology unless you know it will not fail.  Think about display boards and plan out your presentation. Make it brief and direct. Include your sketches and all other background material.

**Project 1: YCN—Final Due

PLEASE READ:

Due Dates:
Please have your print out to look over and review in Wednesday class.

After looking at shipment prices I found we have to start shipping all these projects on Sat March 20th.

I will take my last collection of project on Sat. at 10am.

Anyone who wishes to ship his or hers out later must put in extra cost.

Your project for the YCN competition needs to be in London England by March 26.

Final:
Must be ready to ship.
No project larger than 11 x 17.
Prepared to be mounted. (Foam Core preferred, as this is lighter and cheaper to ship.)

You must adhere to all requirement of competition. This includes labels and forms as well as written requirements presented in the brief.

This means that:
Magazine Project: Must have 500 word explanation. Also, see what is asked by creative brief.
Aids Project: Must write up direction and goals. Also, see what is asked by creative brief.
Tetley: see what is asked by creative brief.

 

 

 

 

 

Prepare for your project to be shipped to competition.

*****You must have a project book or written info on boards.

These show designs and a written component on your project. Give to professor by Wed or no later than Sat March 20th.*****

 

 

 

PLEASE READ:

Work Days:
Please let me know if you wish to meet with me on Wednesday morning, Thursday all day, or Friday.

Also, Friday is a work-day for those who wish to come in and mount your stuff or refine their work. Room 408 and room 410 will be available. You can submit your stuff on that day to me as well.

On Sat at 10 am I will collect all those people wishing to enter the YCN competition. 

Note change:
Because we are on such a tight schedule, you will need to make 2 copies of all items of your project; One to ship and one to submit to the professor for grading. They should be exact duplicates.

You will be asked to present to the class your open project. You will need to show designs and prototypes of what you are trying to accomplish.

Please have a computer design of your personal project printed and ready for class critique.

 

 

 

Homework:

The logo has been decided on. However, I would like you to continue to use your own logos in the invitation design. But if you'd like to do an invite with the accepted logo, that will be fine as well. If you want to do both, I will allow extra credit points.

 

So the project has changed, slightly. You will continue to design for the event with your own logo in mind or the logo selected.

  • Dress presentable
  • provide a 300 word writtten breif about your project. (Make copies for everyone in the class). (You should include images and have your breif designed in a professional manner).
