For this assignment, I had to find a creative website, locate it’s designer and e-mail them with 3-4 questions that the class complied at the beginning of the semester. I found a great website called bluecanvas.com and I was able to get a response from the designer, Alex Branning. Below is a copy of my email exchange with Alex. Hello, 1. What inspires you? 2. What is your favorite accomplishment? 3. What do you do to get into your creative zone? 4. If your creative work were edible, what would it taste like?
Opal; I’d be happy to help! I have a lot of work to go off of for inspiration; there’s some amazing web sites out there that have really changed the game as far as Internet development go. My philosophy when it comes to web site design is keeping everything simple and easy, so I’m always looking for new ways to make the visitors’ experience enjoyable and easier to understand.
The accomplishment I’m most proud of is the site you used to find me; bluecanvas.com. Bluecanvas is a social networking site I built from scratch, and it has really opened the doors for me to a lot of great opportunities, including a social network for the Marilyn Monroe estate and the West Virginia administration.
Every morning I grab a cup of coffee, sit down at my desk and wander over some Internet sites to de-stress and clear my mind. My business isn’t all that creative, the focus of my work is problem-solving through programming solutions; I don’t do a lot of design work so I don’t need to be that creative.
Continuing my last thought, if my creative work were edible it would taste like cardboard because I’m not that creative of a designer. Let me take that back, it’d probably be more like waffles without any syrup…bland and leaving everyone wanting to spice it up a bit more before eating.
Thanks again for writing, Alex Branning |
