“We aim at something more sublime and more equitable—the common good, or the community of goods. . .” - Francois Noël Babeuf [Gracchus]
The Community Service-Learning program provides resources and campus-wide support for community-based organizations who partner with faculty who incorporate service-learning into their course curriculum. These resources include:
· Facilitating Faculty Partnerships: The CSL office will facilitate a Community Partner Agreement that addresses issues related to both the service-learning course requirements and outcomes, as well as Risk Management concerns.
· Community Partners’ Handbook: The CSL provides a handbook to assist community partners in developing projects and procedures for incorporating service-learning students into their organization.
· Community Partner Training Workshops: In collaboration with the Matador Involvement Center and the Career Center, the CSL office offers quarterly workshops providing community organizations with a full-scope of service, internship, and volunteer programs offered through the university. Community partners may also access the Workshop’s PowerPoint presentation and conduct a self-guided training.
