The Music Industry Studies major at California State University, Northridge was created for students wishing to pursue executive and administrative careers in the music industry. (It is not designed to prepare for performance careers; our other degree programs offer that option.)
Graduates of the Music Industry Studies program move into virtually all facets of the music and entertainment industries. Recent graduates have built successful careers at major record companies, motion picture studios, music publishing companies, music merchandisers, software-development labels, musician’s unions and advertising firms. Some students use the major as a springboard into law school with the intent of practicing Entertainment Law.
Based on feedback from the professional communities of the Hollywood/Los Angeles music industry, CSUN’s M.I.S. major offers a unique blend of both the art of music and the discipline of business.
Graduates of the M.I.S. program are rapidly becoming leaders in the music and entertainment industries. They will help shape the future of the music industry.
