In such a short time, Robert has achieved what very few have been able to acquire in an entire career. He is a highly respected and recognized young composer, bassist, educator and recording artist.
As his resume reflects, his activity has been captured in many publications, including Who's Who amongst jazz Musicians, allmusic.com, and the Jazz Hall of Fame. He has won four Grammy Awards with multiple top-ten recognition and five-star honors globally. Among his extensive performances on major motion pictures and television soundtracks, he has had over eight years of nightly performing, directing, arranging, and composing for NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno". These high-profile settings and experiences have afforded Robert prized knowledge and expertise. He has scored original music for three films, one being "The Wood" an MTV/Paramount production frequently featured on Showtime, HBO and Cinemax channels.
He is currently busy composing, recording and touring. Robert teaches as a faculty member with California State University, Northridge, and also conducts master classes for the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at USC and several other top educational institutions. He is currently preparing for the release of two already celebrated Jazz recordings entitled "Unrehurst" Vol. 1, a straight ahead jazz trio feature, and "Family Album", Vol. 1, a sophisticated jazz and multicultural vocal and instrumental collection of familiar childhood nursery rhymes with new original compositions for everyone to enjoy. His immediate follow up to these releases include projects featuring Branford Marsalis, Jeff "Tain" Watts and Geri Allen.
From the beginning, a young Robert was awarded a Presidential Scholarship, from President Reagan, recognizing him as a member of that esteemed dozen selected to dominate the Arts.
